The injury bug continues to plague the Carolina Panthers, and Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears only added to their list of casualties. Already missing several key defensive starters from the beginning of the season, the Panthers were dealt more blows in their 28-14 loss at Soldier Field.
In the second quarter, edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney went down with a shoulder injury, adding to the Panthers’ already thin defense. Clowney, who has been a key playmaker for Carolina’s front seven, is officially listed as questionable to return, and his status moving forward will be closely monitored. Losing him would be another major setback for a team that’s been struggling to stay healthy.
The offensive side wasn’t spared either, as tight end Tommy Tremble suffered a concussion after a catch and fumble in the second quarter. Tremble has been ruled out for the remainder of the game, and depending on the severity of his concussion, could miss additional time. His absence will force the Panthers to dig deeper into their depth chart at tight end, putting more pressure on Hayden Hurst to step up as the primary target in the position.

The Panthers’ issues didn’t stop there. Wide receiver Xavier Legette and offensive tackle Taylor Moton were both added to the injury list during the game, with both players listed as questionable to return. Losing Moton, one of the team’s most consistent linemen, would be especially problematic for a team already struggling to protect rookie quarterback Bryce Young.
With injuries piling up, the Panthers will need to continue relying on their “next man up” mentality. Coach Frank Reich acknowledged the adversity the team is facing, stating, “It’s tough, but we’ve got to stay ready. Injuries are part of the game, and we need our backups to step in and play their role.”
As the Panthers look ahead to the rest of the season, staying competitive will be a challenge. But in a year marred by injuries, the team’s resilience will be tested, and their ability to adapt may define the remainder of their season.
