The San Antonio Spurs have brought guard Jamaree Bouyea back into the fold on an Exhibit 10 contract, as first reported by Keith Smith of Spotrac. Bouyea, who initially signed with the Spurs in March on a two-year deal, saw limited NBA action last season but made a strong impression in the G League, earning him another chance with the organization.

During the 2023-24 season, Bouyea appeared in three NBA games for San Antonio while spending the majority of his time in the G League. Playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce and Austin Spurs, he averaged an impressive stat line of 16.4 points, 7.2 assists, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 37.5 minutes per game across 38 contests. Bouyea’s versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor stood out, making him a valuable piece in the Spurs’ development system.

Despite being waived by the Spurs a month ago before training camp, Bouyea’s Exhibit 10 contract signals that the team remains invested in his potential. An Exhibit 10 contract allows Bouyea to compete for a roster spot during training camp, though it’s likely that he will ultimately be waived before the regular season begins. This would send him back to the Austin Spurs, San Antonio’s G League affiliate, where he can continue to develop. If Bouyea spends at least 60 days with the Austin Spurs, he will be eligible to earn an Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $77,500.

Bouyea’s return to the Austin Spurs also comes after a trade in which San Antonio acquired his G League returning rights from the Sioux Falls Skyforce. This move further indicates the Spurs’ intention to keep Bouyea within their developmental program, where he could play a key role for Austin in the upcoming season.

With the Spurs currently at the 21-man preseason roster limit, more roster cuts are expected as the team trims down to meet the NBA’s regular season roster requirements by Monday. Bouyea’s presence in the organization, even if it’s through the G League, gives the Spurs another young, dynamic player to monitor as they continue to build for the future.
