Minnesota sports fans can now rep their teams in style.

Minnesota sports enthusiasts now have the opportunity to express their community support and pride through newly introduced license plates.

Minnesota sports fans can now proudly represent their favorite teams not just in the stands but also on the streets. The Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services has introduced over 120 special license plates, featuring professional sports teams, two non-profits, and a stylish blackout design.

These new plates can be obtained for $15.50, requiring a minimum annual contribution of $30. The proceeds from these contributions will be directed toward charitable organizations such as the Minnesota Vikings Foundation and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. These organizations aim to support youth health, education, and overall community well-being.

Brett Taber, executive director of the Minnesota Vikings Foundation, expressed excitement about seeing these plates on the roads and highlighted the tangible impact of the $30 contributions. According to Taber, these contributions translate into real, measurable support for community programs, potentially providing meals for kids in need.

The Minnesota Twins Community Fund, with a mission to enrich local communities through resources for the healthy development of children and families, has invested over $22 million since 1991. Nancy O’Brien, the Minnesota Twins Vice President of Community Engagement, emphasized that the additional revenue from these plates would help extend their reach to more children.

In addition to benefiting sports-related charities, drivers can also opt for plates that support the Lion’s Club, the world’s largest service club organization involved in various community services. Another option is the blackout plate, featuring white lettering, which has gained popularity in other states. The $30 fee for these plates will contribute to programs at the Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services.

All these distinctive plates can be conveniently obtained online or in person at local deputy registrar offices.
