The Michigan Wolverines of 2023 are set to compete in the College Football Playoff Championship next week, and their journey to Houston was significantly aided by the outstanding performance of their defense in the Rose Bowl Game. The defense displayed ferocity against Alabama, repeatedly sacking quarterback Jalen Milroe and effectively containing the opposing team. In a nail-biting overtime victory, the Wolverines’ defense crucially made a decisive stop on 4th and goal.

Given these remarkable defensive feats, it comes as no surprise that head coach Jim Harbaugh commended the defensive unit. Specifically, Harbaugh praised the contributions of defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

During a teleconference on Wednesday, Jim Harbaugh expressed nothing but admiration for Jesse Minter. According to On3 Sports, Harbaugh had abundant praise for Minter and the commendable job he and his defensive unit executed. Harbaugh went as far as to consider Minter deserving of a game ball for his outstanding contributions to the victory.

“Yeah, phenomenal,” Harbaugh remarked during the conference call. “The job that—game ball, Guardian of Victory—I’d give one to Jesse Minter. The coaching in the game, the play-calling. Sherrone Moore, same thing. The coaching, the play-calling, the pressure moments. I mean the pressure moments, the calls they made, the rest of their lives, they can go back and say, ‘Man, I did it. In some of the most high-pressure moments.'”

As Michigan and Harbaugh look ahead, they acknowledge the importance of one more stellar performance orchestrated by both Minter and Moore. If they succeed, Michigan will secure the coveted title of National Champions.
