Wake Forest has announced that sophomore forward Omaha Biliew will be sidelined for 8-10 weeks due to a stress-related injury to his right foot. The injury occurred during the season opener against Coppin State and involves the same foot he injured in May.
Biliew, a transfer from Iowa State and former McDonald’s All-American, has averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season, playing just 13.7 minutes per contest. His expected recovery timeline would have him returning between the second and fourth week of January, potentially in time for Wake Forest’s home games against UNC and Duke in the fourth week of the month. Hopefully, he will be back on the court before those key matchups.
While injuries are always difficult, Wake Forest benefits from greater depth this season compared to previous years. In Biliew’s absence, expect to see more minutes for players like Juke Harris and Churchill Abass.
We’re all hoping for a speedy and full recovery.
