The preseason buzz surrounding the Chicago Bears‘ offense has largely faded, as the unit has struggled mightily through a three-game losing streak. Heading into their Week 11 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, the Bears have gone 23 consecutive possessions without scoring a touchdown. While the offensive line, plagued by injuries and struggles, has failed to protect rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, the once-promising skill-position players have also underperformed.
Amid these challenges, players like Keenan Allen are expected to rebound if they find themselves in a more efficient and cohesive offense. Allen, who has battled injuries recently, is unlikely to remain with the Bears in 2025 unless offered a major contract extension. After a season marked by injury concerns and declining production, the Bears are unlikely to offer him such a deal.
Instead, Allen is predicted to seek a new opportunity, potentially finding success with a contender. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report speculates that Allen could follow fellow running back Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he could serve as a third receiver alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith—providing versatility and much-needed depth.
Financially, a new deal for Allen doesn’t make sense for the Bears. They already committed a large extension to DJ Moore and used their first-round pick on rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze. Allen, in the final year of an $80 million contract, is entering his mid-30s, and with the Bears needing to focus on improving their offensive line and defense, allocating funds to a receiver seems unnecessary.
The Bears also face coaching instability. With head coach Matt Eberflus recently firing his second offensive coordinator in a year, changes are likely ahead. At 4-5, with a tough remaining schedule, Chicago could be on the lookout for a complete staff overhaul in 2025. In this uncertain environment, Keenan Allen’s future with the Bears looks increasingly unlikely.
