Texas Shaken as Another Veteran Defensive Lineman Enters Transfer Portal.

The NCAA transfer portal is active once again, with another Texas Longhorns defender entering. Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reported on Tuesday that defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea has joined the portal after just one season in Austin.

He is the third defensive lineman from Texas to enter, following Jaray Bledsoe and Aaron Bryant. Savea began his college career at UCLA in 2021 before transferring to Arizona, where he spent two seasons, totaling 35 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He then transferred to Texas, visiting Austin in January before committing.

However, Savea had limited impact during his single season with the Longhorns, playing in only four games and recording three tackles.

His appearances came in early-season matchups against Colorado State, UTSA, and Louisiana-Monroe, with his last game being a 49-17 win over Texas on November 9. The 6’4″, 295-pound lineman, now a senior, will likely have one year of eligibility remaining and is expected to draw interest from West Coast programs seeking veteran depth for their defensive lines.
