Butler, who started 10 games for Nebraska this season, was one of the Cornhuskers’ top performers under head coach Matt Rhule. He recorded 22 tackles (12 solo), 7 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a fumble recovery.

The junior, who has 1 year of eligibility remaining, spent three seasons at Nebraska, totaling 7.5 sacks, 65 tackles, and a forced fumble. After the regular season, Butler entered the transfer portal seeking a new opportunity to finish his college career, and ultimately chose LSU over other programs like Florida State and Texas A&M.

Butler’s additional eligibility comes from the COVID-19 season and a redshirt year in 2021. At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, he will provide a significant boost to LSU’s defense next fall.

In recent days, LSU has added four transfers from power conference schools, with Butler joining Oklahoma tight end Bauer Sharp, Florida cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson, and Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown as part of the 2025 class.
