Texas Transfer DT Aaron Bryant Chooses Vanderbilt for Next Chapter.

Former Texas football redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Aaron Bryant has committed to Vanderbilt, as announced in a post on his X account on December 17. This decision comes just a week after he declared his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal on December 9.

Bryant, who played 13 games over three seasons at Texas, recorded two tackles and two defensive stops. This season, his role in the Longhorns’ defensive front was limited, with his snaps significantly reduced to under two dozen after a career-high 51 defensive snaps in 2023.

He did, however, log at least six defensive snaps in key games against Colorado State, Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, and Florida in Week 11.

Bryant is the fourth transfer to commit to Vanderbilt in this portal cycle, joining former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Gunnar Givens and Alabama edge rusher Keanu Koht. A four-star recruit from Southaven, Mississippi, Bryant was part of Texas’ highly ranked 2022 recruiting class, which placed in the top five nationally according to 247Sports.

Texas has faced significant roster turnover along the defensive line, with Bryant being one of four defensive tackles to enter the portal in recent weeks, joining Jaray Bledsoe, Sydir Mitchell, and Tia Savea.
