Top Prospects for LA Galaxy in 2024 MLS SuperDraft.

With the 2024 MLS season now behind us, the focus shifts to the 2025 MLS SuperDraft, set for Friday, December 20th at 2:00 p.m. (ET). Some of the best collegiate talent will look to make the jump from the NCAA to Major League Soccer.

Although the Los Angeles Galaxy, fresh off their sixth MLS Cup victory, may not have a pressing need for new players, a few key positions—especially in defense and midfield—could be worth addressing. With an aging defense and a key midfielder recovering from injury, the Galaxy’s front office should use the draft to bolster their roster ahead of free agency.

Here are five players the LA Galaxy should consider selecting in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft:

Jansen Miller
  1. Jansen Miller, Defender (Indiana)
Miller, a standout center-back for Indiana, started 17 of 19 games in 2023 and became a mainstay in the defense. At 6’2″, he could pair well with Carlos Garces and provides a young, talented defender for the future.
  2. Josh Ramsey, Defender (Notre Dame)
This 6-foot left-center back is a former US National U17 team member and played a key role in Notre Dame’s defense, contributing to 12 clean sheets in 2023. He could be a strong addition to the Galaxy’s backline and potentially a future replacement for the aging Maya Yoshida.
  3. Enzo Newman, Defender (Oregon State)
Newman, a disciplined right-back, had an impressive 2024 season with six assists and is known for his consistent play. His ability to maintain composure and avoid fouls makes him a smart defensive prospect for the Galaxy.
  4. Nick Fernandez, Midfielder (Portland)
Fernandez, a box-to-box midfielder, could help fill the gap left by the injured Riqui Puig. With a knack for contributing offensively in his final games for Portland, Fernandez would be a solid addition to the Galaxy’s midfield.
  5. Colin Griffith, Winger (Maryland)
A dynamic winger with great speed and versatility, Griffith earned All-Big Ten honors and scored six goals in 2024. Despite being slightly undersized at 5’10”, his quickness and ability to create scoring opportunities make him a strong candidate for the Galaxy.

The 2025 MLS SuperDraft could bring fresh talent to the Galaxy’s roster, and these five prospects represent potential building blocks for the future.
