Michigan Football Pursuing Transfer Portal Upgrades at Wide Receiver Ahead of Alabama Showdown
As the Michigan Wolverines gear up for their highly anticipated clash with Alabama, head coach Sherrone Moore and newly hired offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey are busy working to bolster the team’s wide receiver corps via the transfer portal. While Michigan has already landed a big-bodied target in 6-foot-5 Donaven McCulley, a former Indiana standout, the coaching staff isn’t done yet. The Wolverines are reportedly aiming to add 2-3 more experienced receivers to enhance their offense for the 2025 season.
Two names generating buzz are Yale’s David Pantelis and Clemson’s Troy Stellato, both of whom bring unique skill sets to the table.
David Pantelis: WR, Yale Transfer
Pantelis, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound senior, has caught the attention of Michigan’s coaching staff after an outstanding season for Yale. Over 11 games, Pantelis racked up more than 1,000 receiving yards on 69 catches and found the end zone 11 times. His consistent production and polished route-running make him an intriguing option for the Wolverines, particularly in the slot or on special teams as a return specialist.
Making the leap from Ivy League competition to the Big Ten is no small challenge, but Pantelis’s experience and skill set suggest he could make a seamless transition. According to On3’s EJ Holland, Pantelis plans to visit Michigan once the NCAA’s recruiting dead period concludes. Additionally, the academic compatibility between Yale and Michigan should make transferring credits relatively straightforward, smoothing the path for his potential arrival.

Troy Stellato: WR, Clemson Transfer
Clemson’s Troy Stellato is another wide receiver Michigan has its eyes on. The 6-foot, 190-pound junior has shown flashes of brilliance during his time at Clemson but has been hampered by injuries over the past three seasons. Despite his limited availability, Stellato has logged 65 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns in his collegiate career.
When healthy, Stellato is a dynamic playmaker with the ability to stretch the field and make contested catches. However, his potential transfer to Michigan is complicated by ongoing issues with transferring credits. On3’s Peter Nakos reports that Stellato is still working through these challenges but is interested in visiting Ann Arbor in the near future.
If Stellato can resolve these academic hurdles, he could provide the Wolverines with a reliable receiving threat and much-needed depth in their wideout room.

With a showdown against Alabama looming, Michigan’s aggressive approach to the transfer portal underscores the team’s commitment to staying competitive on the national stage.
