Brooklyn Nets Sign Forward Tosan Evbuomwan to Two-Way Deal; Waive Jaylen Martin
The Brooklyn Nets have made a key roster move, signing forward Tosan Evbuomwan to a two-way contract, the team announced. In a corresponding transaction, the Nets have requested waivers on two-way guard/forward Jaylen Martin. As per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Evbuomwan Brings Versatility and Experience
Evbuomwan, a 6’7” forward from Newcastle, England, has been a rising star in the NBA G League this season. Playing for the San Diego Clippers during the Tip-Off Tournament, Evbuomwan started all 16 games and delivered strong performances. He averaged 18.4 points on an efficient 51.9 percent shooting, along with 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 32.6 minutes per game.
The 23-year-old has already tasted NBA action. During his rookie campaign, Evbuomwan appeared in 17 games with the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies, averaging 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per contest. He also impressed in the G League last season with the Motor City Cruise, posting averages of 15.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over 18 games.
Before going pro, Evbuomwan starred at Princeton University. During his three collegiate seasons, he earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors as a junior and helped guide the Tigers to a Cinderella Sweet 16 run in the NCAA Tournament as a senior. He went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft but has since proven himself as a high-upside, versatile talent.
Jaylen Martin Waived
To make room for Evbuomwan, the Nets parted ways with guard/forward Jaylen Martin. Martin, who signed a two-way contract with Brooklyn in February 2024, appeared in just three games for the team this season. While Martin showed promise, the Nets opted to prioritize Evbuomwan’s upside and positional versatility.
