Bristol Bears reveal the addition of a promising young talent to their squad, describing the player as one of the most thrilling prospects in the sport.
Bristol Bears have officially announced the acquisition of Benjamín Grondona, a highly regarded backrow forward from Argentina’s U20 international team. The 19-year-old, who is the younger brother of current Bears and Argentina back row player Santiago, has joined the club immediately. With versatility in playing both number eight and blindside flanker, Grondona stands at an impressive 6ft 3 and weighs 102kg. He showcased his skills for the Pumas at the Junior World Championship in South Africa last summer.
Grondona, known for his dynamic ball-carrying skills and impressive performance in lineouts, showcased his talents for Argentina ‘A’ during 2023 fixtures against Uruguay and Chile. Bristol’s director of rugby, Pat Lam, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that Benjamín is among the most exciting young players in the sport. Lam first took notice of Grondona during the Junior World Championships last summer.
Grondona’s inclusion in Argentina’s ‘A’ team at such a young age reflects the high esteem in which he is held by his home country. Having recently arrived in the country, Grondona is eager to immediately contribute to the club.
