Each year, Georgia football consistently ranks among the top choices for the nation’s top recruits, and this year is no different as Kirby Smart and his staff actively pursue the top-ranked player in the country.
That player is five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell, who has garnered interest from nearly every program across the country. Recently, Cantwell narrowed down his list of top schools, and Georgia made the cut. However, a recent statement from Cantwell suggests that the competition remains fierce, with all the teams in the mix still having much work to do to secure his commitment.

“That’s the problem, everyone does everything so well,” Cantwell said.
Cantwell is a standout recruit, holding the title of the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation and the top player in his home state of Missouri, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
Last week, Cantwell revealed his top six schools: Georgia, Missouri, Miami (FL), Ohio State, Michigan, and Oregon. While a recent social media post seemed to hint at Georgia as a possible favorite, his latest comments suggest the race is still wide open.
Cantwell’s recruitment is expected to extend through the summer, giving him time to visit most or all of his top six schools. Georgia will likely hope to secure one of those official visits to make their strongest pitch and show him that Athens is the right place for him.
