For the fourth time in five games, the Texas Rangers will be without star shortstop Corey Seager, who continues to deal with right hamstring tightness. As the Rangers (20–21) prepare to host the struggling Colorado Rockies (7–33) in a three-game series, the absence of their top slugger looms large.

Texas enters the matchup on a modest two-game win streak and faces a Rockies team in turmoil, coming off the firing of longtime manager Bud Black. Given Colorado’s dismal record, this series feels like a must-sweep for the defending champions, but they’ll have to open it without Seager.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Seager remains day-to-day after aggravating the hamstring during his explosive performance on Saturday, where he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI. Despite saying he felt good after the game, Seager sat out again on Sunday, and the discomfort reportedly flared up during his swings.

Seager initially suffered the injury on April 22 against Oakland and spent time on the 10-day injured list. Though he returned May 3, Bochy admitted the shortstop hasn’t been fully healthy. His impact has been undeniable—Texas is 15–11 with him in the lineup and just 5–10 without him.

The Rangers did receive some reinforcements. First baseman Jake Burger was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and will be available Monday. Catcher Kyle Higashioka also returned from a rehab assignment but will be held out one more day, with veteran Tucker Barnhart starting behind the plate.

In addition, utility man Josh Smith was a late scratch from the lineup due to back soreness, further testing the Rangers’ depth.

With Seager’s status still uncertain, the Rangers will hope their offense can find consistency against a Rockies squad in free fall.
