The Chicago Blackhawks have officially secured their goaltending future, announcing a two-year contract extension for Arvid Söderblom that will keep him with the team through the 2026-27 season. The deal carries a $2.75 million salary cap hit, reflecting the organization’s confidence in Söderblom as a key part of their long-term plans between the pipes.
Söderblom, 25, enjoyed a career-best 2024-25 season, appearing in 36 games and setting personal highs in wins, goals-against average (3.18), and save percentage (.898). His performance on the ice demonstrated his steady growth as an NHL goaltender, and he also represented Team Sweden at the 2025 IIHF World Championships, further proving his ability to compete at the highest level internationally.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound goaltender has appeared in 86 NHL games exclusively with the Blackhawks, compiling a 17-52-11 record and a 3.55 GAA. He has also been a standout performer for the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, posting a 36-27-7 record, a 2.83 GAA, and a .913 save percentage in the regular season, along with solid numbers in 10 Calder Cup playoff games.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent from Göteborg, Sweden, on May 13, 2021, Söderblom has steadily developed into a reliable and trusted presence in goal. This new deal not only rewards his progress but also positions him as a central figure in the Blackhawks’ goaltending rotation, giving the team stability and confidence as they look ahead to future seasons.
