Marcus Semien just added another milestone to his legacy — and this one is historic. The Texas Rangers’ star second baseman has officially been crowned the 2025 American League Gold Glove winner, marking the second Gold Glove of his career and his first ever as a Ranger.
He previously won the award in 2021 with the Toronto Blue Jays, but this one hits different. Why? Because Semien is now officially the first player in Texas Rangers history to win a Gold Glove at second base.
Yes — even Ian Kinsler never did that in a Rangers uniform. Kinsler won two Gold Gloves, but both came while playing for the Detroit Tigers. Before this season, Kinsler was also the last Tigers player to win one, until catcher Dillon Dingler broke that streak this year.
⭐ Semien’s Win Caps a Big Defensive Year for the Rangers
Semien wasn’t alone in the spotlight. The Rangers had five finalists in the 2025 Gold Glove race:
-
Marcus Semien – Winner, 2B (AL)
-
Corey Seager – Finalist at Shortstop
-
Wyatt Langford – Finalist in Left Field
-
Adolis García – Finalist in Right Field
-
Jacob deGrom – Finalist at Pitcher
Only Semien brought home the gold, but having five finalists proves one thing: defense is officially a strength in Texas again.
