Seattle: On Seattle’s famed gum wall in Post Alley, a local artist honored Pete Carroll on the news that the notorious gum-chewer would be leaving his position as head coach of the Seahawks.
Artist Rudy Willingham declared, “Pete Carroll is someone I adore.” “I’m also a big fan of using unexpected material to make art.”
Willingham said on Instagram that he created an image of Carroll on the gum wall this past Friday using over 150 pieces of gum.
It took a lot longer to chew than I had anticipated, and there was a lot more gum than I had anticipated. For about three or four days, my jaw hurt. For a few days following, I was unable to taste anything,” he remarked.
Juicy Fruit, Bubble Yum, Double Mint, and Bubble Tape were his art tools.
He quipped, “I hope it wasn’t over $100.” “However, Pete merits it. I wouldn’t give someone $100 worth of gum.”

Why then employ gum as a material for art?
Throughout his career as the head coach of the Seahawks, Carroll gained notoriety for his habit of chewing gum on the sidelines. Willingham’s masterwork shows how much he definitely considered that.
“I used to think it was so funny how much gum he would be smacking on the sidelines,” Willingham said. “I just made the connection between all the gum he would chew and so it was two Seattle icons coming together.”
It’s acknowledged that Post Alley’s mural is distinctive. Like art, one’s opinion on whether it looks like Pete Carroll is subjective.
An eyewitness named Chris Bloomberg remarked, “Pete would say this is awesome.” “He would contribute the zeal and hope. He knows Seattle adores him, so he would be overjoyed about it.”
