Cavaliers’ Milestone Night: Donovan Mitchell Hits 1,300th Three, Isaac Okoro Reaches 2,000 Career Points

Individual achievements shine amid the Cavaliers' impressive team play; Mitchell's three-point prowess and Okoro's scoring milestone stand out.

For the past month and a half, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been playing a stunning style of team basketball. It’s still crucial, though, that we recognize certain athletes when they accomplish something significant in their careers. A pair of Cavs reached individual milestones against the Magic on Monday night that are worth highlighting.

Despite only spending one and a half seasons with the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell has had two seasons with more points than he has ever had in his career. Spida is particularly noteworthy for his three-point shooting.

In Orlando, he accomplished a career high when he made his 1,300th three-pointer. Mitchell’s play was a showy shake ‘n bake, long step-back three that the Magic defenders was completely unprepared for.

During his five seasons with the Utah Jazz, Mitchell made 958 three-pointers; the remaining 342 came while wearing a Cavalier uniform.

A significant milestone in Isaac Okoro’s career was also achieved against the Magic. Five points separated him from his career 2,000th point going into Monday night’s game. He hit that milestone early in the first quarter, so it didn’t take him long to get there.

When Ice was selected fifth overall out of Auburn in the 2020 NBA Draft, he was never considered a top scorer. But this season, Okoro has settled in, scoring 8.7 points a night while shooting a solid 49% from the field.
