The Hall of Fame members are Beltré, Helton, and Mauer.

The BBWAA has announced that Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton, and Joe Mauer have been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Congratulations to them!

Billy Wagner, who has one more chance to reach 75 percent of the vote, came up short at 73.1%. In my opinion, he should be in.

Sheffield, who is running for the first time, came up short at 63.9%; he will now have to settle for the veteran’s committee (I know it’s not what they call them anymore, but I’m too lazy to check what their official name is). The only other candidates above 50% were Andruw Jones (61.6%) and Carlos Beltran (57.1%).

Along with seven other candidates, Jose Bautista is a one-and-done on six ballots. To my surprise, Omar Vizquel appeared on 17.7% of the ballots. That’s hard for me to believe. Some 68 baseball writers believe he should be in the Hall of Fame. I should not vote for those guys.
