Collingwood star involved in Early morning auto accident

Following an automobile collision on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, Collingwood premiership defender Brayden Maynard was unable to attend training on Monday.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Monday, resulting in Maynard’s absence from training.

Upon reports surfacing about his absence, Collingwood issued a statement confirming the incident.

According to Collingwood, Brayden Maynard was involved in a relatively minor car accident earlier that morning.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The statement mentioned, “Brayden’s vehicle sustained only minor exterior damage, and he exchanged contact information with the other driver.”

Maynard, who played a crucial role in Collingwood’s 2023 Premiership victory, had recently resumed full training after undergoing shoulder surgery.

During the finals, Maynard faced controversy after being cleared of an MRO allegation related to an incident involving Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw in the qualifying final’s early stages. Following a concussion, Brayshaw had only recently returned to contact training after missing Melbourne’s semi-final match.
