Jack Hughes updated the NHL rumors rundown today on his injury status. In the meanwhile, speculation is rampant over the next move the Montreal Canadiens may make. Chris Tanev may be the next to realize the dreams of the Calgary Flames, who are just now beginning to do so. And lastly, will the St. Louis Blues try to acquire Ottawa’s Jakob Chychrun?

There is conjecture, however, by Eric Engels of Sportsnet, that Hughes would use some of the team’s first-round choices as trade assets. Hughes has been linked to a similar kind of transaction as he has acquired players like Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook with first-round choices in recent rounds.

Additionally, Hughes stated that forward Alex Newhook is expected to make a quick recovery. Early in December, Newhook’s high ankle injury kept him out of the game. The initial prognosis was 10 to 12 weeks.

Jack Hughes, a player with the New Jersey Devils, stated with optimism that he will soon make a complete recovery from an upper-body injury: “I think I’m really close, hopefully I can come out of the break here and feel good, finish the year really strong.” Hughes was placed on injured reserve prior to the All-Star break after missing the previous ten games.
