Hamilton Tiger-Cats to Ink Defensive Lineman Dewayne Hendrix: Deal Pending Official Confirmation
According to Justin Dunk of 3DownNation, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are primed to ink a deal with defensive lineman Dewayne Hendrix this Wednesday. However, the agreement cannot be formalized until February 13th.
Standing tall at six feet four inches and weighing 270 pounds, the 27-year-old native of O’Fallon, Illinois, showcased his prowess with the Toronto Argonauts in 2023, tallying 23 tackles, six sacks, and one forced fumble across 15 games. Hendrix joined the Argonauts as a free agent on February 12, 2021.
During his three-year tenure in Toronto, Hendrix amassed 65 tackles, one special teams tackle, eight sacks, and one forced fumble in 38 games. Notably, he was part of the 2022 Toronto Argonauts Grey Cup championship team.
Prior to his stint with Toronto, Hendrix entered the professional scene by signing with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He subsequently had stints with the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2020, he briefly played for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL, recording seven tackles (3 solo, 4 assists) and one sack in five games before the league ceased operations due to the pandemic.
At the collegiate level, Hendrix commenced his football journey with one season at Tennessee in 2014, where he contributed two tackles (1 solo, 1 assist) in seven games for the Volunteers. He then transferred to Pittsburgh (2016-18), where he compiled 50 tackles (30 solo, 20 assists), 10 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries across 25 games for the Panthers.
