Asics released several images and videos from the shoot across various social media platforms, including Instagram. In one of the videos, Djokovic expressed his anticipation for the Melbourne Major, a tournament where he claimed his first Grand Slam title in 2008. He remarked:

“I hope 2024 will be another fantastic year. I’m eager to begin the season on a high note. Melbourne holds special significance for me since I won my first title there in 2008. It’s always a joy to return to the ‘Happy Slam,’ as it’s affectionately known.”

He also shared his excitement about playing in Australia, a place where he feels comfortable and has historically achieved success, often setting the tone for the remainder of the season. Djokovic expressed his aspirations for strong performances and hoped for successful collaborations with Asics throughout the season.

However, Djokovic’s experience at Melbourne Park didn’t unfold as expected. He encountered difficulties throughout the tournament due to illness and fatigue, ultimately losing to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals, who went on to win the championship.

This marked Djokovic’s first-ever semifinal defeat at the Australian Open, an event he had previously won ten times.

Weeks later, Asics released a lighthearted video showcasing the enjoyable moments from the shoot, featuring Djokovic singing and dancing on the court.

Following his defeat to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the 2024 Australian Open, Novak Djokovic acknowledged the Italian’s outstanding performance.

“I want to congratulate Sinner for playing a great match and having a fantastic tournament so far. He completely outperformed me today,” Djokovic stated in a press conference.

 

Reflecting on his own performance, Djokovic described it as one of his poorest showings at a Grand Slam, admitting:

“I was somewhat taken aback by my performance, and not in a positive way. I struggled to find my rhythm, particularly in the first two sets. It’s safe to say this was one of the worst Grand Slam matches I’ve played.”
