Canterbury Bulldogs replaces John Khoury.

Canterbury chairman John Khoury has confirmed he will step down after four years in the role. Adam Driussi, co-founder of the billion-dollar business Quantium, will replace him, according to sources familiar with the situation. There is reportedly no animosity between Khoury and the board, and he will remain a dual director of both the football and league clubs. Khoury will announce the changes and unveil the new chairman at Sunday’s annual general meeting.

Khoury took over during a tumultuous period, succeeding Lynne Anderson after she and two directors resigned in 2020. Driussi, an actuary, joined the board in 2022. Woolworths acquired a 25% stake in Quantium for $223 million in 2021. Driussi declined to comment on the board changes but denied any board-level unrest, stating that they are all close friends.

Despite concerns about a rival ticket, the directors will be re-appointed unopposed at the AGM. Canterbury is currently undergoing a rebuild under coach Cameron Ciraldo and general manager Phil Gould, with several new players joining the roster. They recently scored an impressive win over the Melbourne Storm in a trial match.
