Russell Wilson of the Broncos is reportedly “Accepting Offers” on his $25 million residence in Denver.
Analysts continue to speculate about the quarterback situation with the Denver Broncos following the conclusion of the 2023 NFL season. Russell Wilson’s unexpected benching towards the end of the season has raised doubts about his future with the team.
Recent developments suggest that a return for Wilson is becoming less likely. According to a tweet from Zac Stevens of DNVR, Wilson and his wife, Ciara, are reportedly preparing to sell their Denver home, which they purchased upon Wilson’s arrival to the Broncos. The couple spent $25 million on the 25,000 sq. ft. mansion, and now it appears they are looking to sell it less than two years later.
Although it’s not certain that Wilson will not be with the Broncos next season, all indications are pointing in that direction. If the Broncos wish to avoid his fully guaranteed contract for the upcoming season, they would need to release him by March 17 to avoid additional financial implications. However, this would still result in a league-record $85 million in dead money on the team’s books.
So, what’s next for the Broncos? They could explore more affordable options at quarterback, such as targeting a quarterback in the first round of the draft or signing a less expensive free agent. The goal would be to find a better fit for Sean Payton’s offensive system and lead the team to the postseason.
As for Russell Wilson, teams in need of a quarterback like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, or Las Vegas Raiders could be potential suitors for the six-time Pro Bowler if he is released. Despite being 36 years old, Wilson is still considered to have talent, although it seems unlikely that he will showcase it in Denver.
