An NFL scout and executive have reportedly voiced significant concerns about Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Michigan Wolverines quarterback JJ McCarthy is considered one of the program’s most significant players in history. Despite his role in leading the team to a national championship, there is a notable criticism of McCarthy that he cannot address as he prepares for the 2024 NFL Draft.

At 21 years old, McCarthy has already faced questions about his reduced involvement in the offense late in the season. Despite being a Heisman Trophy candidate entering November, the Wolverines shifted towards a more run-heavy approach, limiting McCarthy’s pass attempts.

McCarthy’s statistics include a 167.4 QB rating, 2,991 passing yards, a 22-4 touchdown-interception ratio, and 9.0 yards per attempt. Despite being regarded as the fourth-best quarterback prospect in the upcoming draft, McCarthy aims to showcase his talents at the NFL Combine to solidify his position as a potential top-10 pick.

While McCarthy is expected to perform well in interviews, there is a significant concern that emerged from discussions in Albert Breer’s Sports Illustrated mailbag. A scout highlighted a particular critique of McCarthy, drawing a concerning comparison to an NFL player, which could impact McCarthy’s draft stock.
