“Breaking news: Brandon Woodruff is returning to the Brewers,” announced Heyman, revealing a two-year deal. Securing Woodruff’s services could have been a significant boost for the Mets.

Although he won’t be pitching in 2024, the Mets’ chances of contention are higher in 2025. A fully recovered Woodruff could have provided the Mets with a top-tier pitcher at a discounted rate.

Throughout his seven seasons in the majors, Woodruff has maintained a career 3.10 ERA and has recorded an ERA under 3.00 in two of the last three seasons.
