Young talent Ethan Sanders has shared his thoughts on his future.

Regarded as a future NRL star, Ethan Sanders, the talented halfback for the Parramatta Eels, has finally addressed the speculation surrounding his future, particularly his rumored link to the Canberra Raiders.

Sanders, often likened to the legendary Cooper Cronk, has recently completed his first pre-season with the Eels. Despite a successful junior career that includes guiding the Eels to the SG Ball Cup title and leading the club to their first Jersey Flegg Cup finals campaign since 2018, Sanders finds himself behind Dylan Brown and Mitchell Moses in the team hierarchy, both of whom are on long-term contracts. This situation has sparked interest from several clubs seeking to secure Sanders’ services.

However, Sanders has expressed his desire to remain with the Eels for the 2024 season, emphasizing his eagerness to learn from Brown, Moses, and coach Brad Arthur. Due to the new NRL collective bargaining agreement, Sanders cannot negotiate with other clubs until Round 6 unless granted permission by Parramatta.

While Sanders has committed to staying with the Eels for this year, he has not indicated his plans beyond 2024. Previous reports suggested interest from the Canberra Raiders and Penrith Panthers in recruiting him, but Sanders dismissed much of this as media speculation.

Sanders’ dedication to Parramatta stems from his father’s support for the club, which has been ingrained in him since childhood. He looks up to Moses, particularly for his kicking game, and acknowledges the significant role Moses has played in his development.

Looking ahead, Sanders aims to continue his progression through the NSW Cup, viewing it as the final step before his NRL debut. He is expected to partner with Daejarn Asi in the halves for the NSW Cup team, as Brown and Moses are set to occupy the first-grade halves positions.

Sanders’ immediate goal is to secure a spot in the NSW Cup team and assess his performance from there. Despite the ongoing speculation, he remains focused on his development and contribution to the Eels.
