The Denver Broncos are being encouraged to make a “common sense” move for a dynamic All-Pro playmaker, though the specific player or move is not specified in the statement.

Addressing the quarterback situation is just one part of the puzzle for the Denver Broncos to solve this offseason. They also need to make offensive improvements, as their unit ranked 26th in yards per game (298.4) and 19th in points (21.0) last season. A potential “common sense” signing could help bolster the offense ahead of head coach Sean Payton’s second season in Denver.

Travis Wakeman of Predominantly Orange suggested that the Broncos should consider signing New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara if he is released ahead of free agency. Wakeman pointed out that the Broncos need help at the running back position, and Kamara, who has a history with Payton, could be a significant upgrade over the current roster options. Kamara is known for his dynamic playmaking ability, especially as a receiving running back, which could greatly benefit the Broncos’ offense regardless of who starts at quarterback in 2024.

Kamara, a perennial Pro Bowler, spent his first seven seasons in the NFL with the Saints. However, due to the Saints’ salary cap problems, he is listed as a potential cap casualty by NFL.com. Cutting Kamara with a post-June 1 designation would open up $11.7 million in cap space for the Saints, who are projected to be $84 million over the cap.

Kamara became a star under Payton in New Orleans, earning five straight Pro Bowl selections and being named a Second-team All-Pro twice. He was also the 2017 Offensive Rookie of the Year and, along with teammate Mark Ingram, became the first running back duo in NFL history to have over 1,500 scrimmage yards in the same season.
