Alabama football officially appoints a new general manager.

Alabama football officially announced the hiring of Courtney Morgan as the Crimson Tide’s general manager on Friday. Morgan’s hiring had been anticipated since he arrived with new head coach Kalen DeBoer at Tuscaloosa National Airport on the day UA hired Nick Saban’s replacement. Morgan previously served in the same role under DeBoer at Washington.

In a statement released by UA athletics, Morgan expressed his excitement about working for Coach DeBoer and continuing Alabama football’s high standard. He emphasized the staff’s shared goal and belief in DeBoer’s process for success, highlighting the importance of trust and hard work.

Morgan’s responsibilities as general manager include managing the roster, overseeing day-to-day operations of the recruiting and personnel departments, organizing film evaluations and prospect communications, coordinating transfer portal evaluations, and supervising internal brand management for the team.

Having played college football at Michigan, Morgan joined the Wolverines’ staff in 2021 before moving to Washington with DeBoer. DeBoer praised Morgan’s role in the program, noting his relationships across the country and his contributions to recruiting and talent evaluation. DeBoer expressed his excitement about bringing Morgan to Alabama, emphasizing his importance to the team’s goals.
