Player reportedly sought by Red Sox is also a target for Phillies.

With Spring Training games underway, the remaining free agents are seeking teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies, who are looking to finalize their roster. Not all players competing for spots will make the Opening Day roster.

The Phillies might make a final move to bolster their chances of winning a World Series, with Jordan Montgomery being a potential addition. Montgomery, a left-handed pitcher, played a significant role for the Texas Rangers, the reigning champions, and has been linked to the Phillies throughout the offseason.

However, Philadelphia is waiting for his asking price to drop, as they are already close to the luxury tax threshold. While they wait, other teams, like the Boston Red Sox, are actively pursuing Montgomery. Red Sox Manager Alex Cora mentioned that they had a Zoom meeting with Montgomery before Spring Training.
