During the offseason, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have been actively revamping their roster in preparation for the upcoming 2024 season. The team’s strategy regarding personnel decisions involves incorporating younger talent into their lineup and bolstering depth in key position groups. This approach persists as evidenced by the recent signing of American quarterback Harrison Frost, as listed in the CFL Transactions.
Frost joins a quarterback corps for the Tiger-Cats that includes CFL veteran Bo Levi Mitchell, 2023 rookie standout Taylor Powell, and former BC Lions backup Kevin Thomson. Transitioning to the CFL after a stint with the Seattle Sea Dragons in the 2023 XFL season, Frost aims to make his mark with the Tiger-Cats. Despite being inactive during his time in Seattle and not being selected in the XFL-USFL merger that formed the UFL, Frost remains determined to seize his opportunity in Hamilton.
Standing at 6’1″ and weighing 194 pounds, Frost hails from Kennesaw, Georgia. He commenced his college football journey at the NCAA FCS level with the Mercer University Bears from 2017 to 2020, where he showcased his abilities in 28 games. Frost then transferred to the NCAA Division II University of West Georgia in 2021, where he demonstrated his potential as a dynamic playmaker. Over the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Frost impressed with 50 touchdown passes and only 18 interceptions, alongside 6,730 passing yards.
Despite briefly joining the coaching staff at the University of Virginia as a graduate assistant in July 2023, Frost remains committed to pursuing a professional football career. With his proven ability to lead an explosive offensive unit, Frost arrives in Hamilton eager to contribute and make a significant impact on the field.
