White Sox infielder claimed by Boston Red Sox…

Romy González is an infielder/utility player that the Boston Red Sox grabbed off waivers, according the MLB transactions website.

The White Sox selected González, 27, in the 18th round of the 2018 MLB entry draft. Despite COVID-19 having an impact on the 2020 season, he advanced swiftly through the minor league ranks.

In 2021, he debuted in Major League Baseball with the Sox. González hit.250 in 33 at-bats during his ten games in the major leagues that season. He displayed his utility-man skills that season by playing every infield position and two outfield positions. González participated in 32 main league games in 2022. At the plate, he hit.238 with two home runs and eleven RBIs.

His hitting declined in the previous season; in 93 at-bats, he registered a.194 batting average. He had season-ending shoulder surgery in August to fix a torn labrum. For the most of the season before his injury, he assisted in filling the void at second base.

Going into the 2023 campaign, the White Sox stated their high conviction in González and did not rule him out of becoming the team’s starting second baseman.

Then-general manager Rick Hahn stated, “I think there’s been nothing but rage about Romy Gonzalez this offseason from the coaches that have worked with him.” “They even had a player who sustained an injury and recovered, coming to my office in the off-season to tell me not to deal that individual.

A few free agents appear to go unsigned in the first few days of February each year. This year is no exception, with Blake Snell, the reigning NL Cy Young champion, at the top of the list. Matt Chapman, Cody Bellinger, and Jordan Montgomery are just a handful of the MLB roster improvements still accessible.

But since pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks, let’s examine the MLB Futures market, particularly the NL MVP market.

The current o

dds board’s top line says this:

Atlanta Braves Ronald Acuna Jr. +550

Mookie Betts +650 for the LA Dodgers

LA Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani, +650

José Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres +1000

Philadelphia Phillies +1000 with Bryce Harper

+1200 for LA Dodgers and Freddie Freeman

Before unveiling NBC Sports Betting Analyst Jay Croucher’s (@croucherJD) selection, let him to explain why he deems several of the previously mentioned options to be invalid.

To be honest, Acuna is not supported at that number by adequate current value. Furthermore, since Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers did so in 2013, no player in either league has taken home consecutive MVP honors. The National League’s drought goes back a few more years, to 2009, when St. Louis Cardinals player Albert Pujols accepted the trophy.

It’s likely that the trio splits the vote and provides room for another contender because Ohtani’s signing with the Dodgers and his lack of pitching merely makes him an All-Star, just like his new colleagues Betts and Freeman.

In Philadelphia, Bryce Harper is the frontrunner. Trea Turner (+2200) could steal some votes given how he played in the latter few months of the season, but will he be healthy enough to continue setting the clubhouse culture and providing the pyrotechnics on the field?

Earlier in the winter, Croucher mentioned that Fernando Tatis Jr. was available at +1400. It seems that he was not by alone, as the Tatis for MVP campaign has gained more traction, and as a result, his odds have decreased to +1000. What is the cause of the wave of support? Tatis performed at an MVP caliber over his first three MLB seasons. Last year, he lost some of his intensity, but he subtly became a superior defensive RF. Tatis should be the second favorite for this award since he poses the most danger to Ronald Acuna, should the power returns as predicted.
