NFL Announces Punishment for Commanders Star After Lions Game.
Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu avoided two penalties in last week’s game against the Lions that officials missed, but the NFL‘s disciplinary process didn’t overlook them.

One of the incidents was a helmet-to-helmet hit on Lions quarterback Jared Goff after he threw an interception, which was returned for a touchdown. If the penalty had been called, the touchdown would have been erased, though the interception would still have stood. The hit forced Goff to undergo a concussion evaluation and miss the following Lions series. For the hit, Luvu was fined $16,883.
On the Lions’ next series, Luvu executed a hip-drop tackle on Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs. This also went unflagged but resulted in another fine of $16,883.
In total, Luvu received $33,766 in fines for the game.
