Report: Bengals Bolster Defensive Line with New Signing from UFL Championship Team

Carlos Davis #46 of the Birmingham Stallions

In a move that bolsters their defensive line depth, the Cincinnati Bengals have signed former UFL standout Carlos Davis, the team announced on Thursday. Davis, who previously played in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and spent time with the Atlanta Falcons, has made waves in the United Football League (UFL) and now joins the Bengals as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Carlos Davis, a seventh-round draft pick by the Steelers in 2020, has showcased his potential over the past few years. During his tenure with Pittsburgh from 2020 to 2022, he appeared in 12 games, recording 12 tackles and a sack. Although his impact was modest, his time with the Steelers provided him with valuable NFL experience.

After his stint with Pittsburgh, Davis spent part of 2023 on the practice squad for the Atlanta Falcons. However, his fortunes changed when he signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL. His performance with the Stallions was nothing short of impressive. Davis was a key contributor to Birmingham’s UFL championship run earlier this spring and earned a spot on the All-UFL team, further highlighting his skills and determination.

At 27 years old, Davis brings a blend of NFL experience and recent success from the UFL to the Bengals. His addition to the roster not only provides depth but also adds a competitive edge to the Bengals’ defensive line. Moreover, Davis’s connection to the NFL is notable, as he is the twin brother of Khalil Davis, a defensive tackle for the Houston Texans.

As the Bengals gear up for the new season, Davis’s signing could be a strategic move to bolster their defensive front, offering both experience and a fresh perspective from his recent achievements. Fans and analysts alike will be watching to see how Davis integrates into the Bengals’ defensive schemes and contributes to their aspirations for the season.
