WOIO, CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Browns confirmed on Wednesday that star safety Grant Delpit would miss the remainder of the regular season due to a groin injury, forcing him to the injured reserve list.
With 80 tackles, seven of which were for a loss, Delpit, 25, was enjoying his greatest NFL season.
Only hours after deciding to sign a three-year contract extension, he was hurt on Sunday during the victory over Jacksonville.
By the playoffs, the team believes he can make a comeback.
A second-round selection in the 2020 draft was Delpit.
Delpit is replaced on the active roster by veteran Duron Harmon.
The Browns lost defensive lineman Maurice Hurst for the remainder of the season, tackle Dawand Jones, and tackle Jedrick Wills only this past week.
