Bailey Zappe of the New England Patriots responds to Taylor Swift, saying, “I don’t listen.”

Before Sunday’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, quarterback Bailey Zappe of the New England Patriots claims he doesn’t listen to any of her music.

Taylor Swift, the music sensation, is quite likely to attend Sunday’s New England Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs game in support of her boyfriend, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.

Swift is likely the most well-liked woman in the world right now, so the Patriots were bound to get some inquiries about her. Coach Bill Belichick has previously spoken his opinion on the subject, and despite his rough and unforgiving demeanor, the 71-year-old is actually a huge fan of the well-known musician. But Bailey Zappe, the quarterback for the Patriots, doesn’t appear to be in the same situation.

During an interview with WEEI’s Jones and Mego, Zappe disclosed that his distaste for Swift’s music stems primarily from the genre.

Since she moved over to pop, it’s probably because I’m a country man. Although I was aware of some of her older songs from when she performed in the nation, I don’t hate her.”

Later, during Wednesday’s press conference, Zappe reiterated his earlier comments, saying that while he appreciates Swift’s earlier work, he isn’t as fond of her more recent compositions.

“Okay, so, listen to the whole quote,” Zappe told reporters. “I said I’m not not a fan. I used to be a fan. I’m a country guy. I listen to country music. She used to be country. There was times where, of course, Taylor Swift’s country songs came on. I’d listen to it. Now she’s moved over to pop. I’m not a pop guy. So, I’m a fan. I just don’t listen to that type of music. So, just to clear that up in there.”

Given that Zappe is a Victoria, Texas native and attended Western Kentucky for his college career, it should come as no surprise that he prefers Swift’s earlier, more country music.

When the Patriots visit the Chiefs at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, the second-year quarterback will make his third start of the campaign. It’s possible that a very well-known fan will be present.
