Brandon Staley makes a startling disclosure.

As the 2023 NFL season approaches its fifteenth week, Brandon Staley could be the most obviously under-fire head coach.

And after the Los Angeles Chargers’ Thursday Night Football defeat against the Las Vegas Raiders, 63-21, the atmosphere in that seat has reportedly changed from “hot” to “scorching,” with even the team’s third-year head coach acknowledging he’s not sure whether he’ll still be employed on Friday.

When a reporter asked Staley after the game if he thought he’d stay as the Chargers’ head coach after the crushing defeat, he said, “I don’t know that.”

When asked if he thought he should keep his job, the 41-year-old said, “Yes.”

Previously regarded as one of the NFL’s most talented young head coaches, it now seems as though the Chargers will let Staley go “when” rather than “if.” The Perry, Ohio, native faced criticism for a number of mistakes he made in a Week 18 loss to the Raiders, which denied the Chargers a postseason berth at the end of the 2021 season, after leading Los Angeles to a 9-7 record through his first 16 games.

The following season, Los Angeles finished with a 10-7 record, but they are most remembered for blowing a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Wild Card round.
