Steelers Create Opportunity for Kenny Pickett’s Comeback

The Pittsburgh Steelers are leaving the door open for Kenny Pickett's potential return.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not ruling out the possibility of Kenny Pickett being available in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals. With the playoffs at stake, the team is keeping the door open for their starting quarterback’s return from an ankle injury this weekend.

Head coach Mike Tomlin stated that the team anticipates Mason Rudolph starting against the Bengals, but they will assess Pickett’s progress throughout the week. Tomlin mentioned that Pickett had a positive start to the week with rehabilitation and will have an opportunity to participate in practice. Rudolph, with a 5-4-1 record as a starter for the Steelers, is set to replace Mitch Trubisky, who started the previous two games.

Tomlin emphasized the need to evaluate Pickett’s effectiveness in terms of spontaneous decision-making and mobility on the field to determine his clearance for Week 16. He clarified that the final decision rests with medical experts.

The Steelers have three practices and a walk-through scheduled before their matchup against the Bengals. Currently holding a 7-7 record, they occupy the 10th seed in the AFC but remain in contention for a playoff spot.
