Dallas Cowboys pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons has been outspoken about the lack of penalty calls he’s received this season, given the challenge he presents to offensive lines, often resulting in holding. In his third season, Parsons boasts impressive stats, including 13 sacks (marking his third consecutive season with 13 or more sacks), 30 quarterback hits, and 15 tackles for loss, leading all Cowboys in the latter category. According to PFF, Micah leads the NFL in pass-rush grade (94.0), pressures (97), and pressure percent (23), showcasing his exceptional skills and unparalleled speed for a player of his size.
Describing Parsons’ unique skill set and on-field prowess is a challenging task, but head coach Mike McCarthy is making an effort. “It’s distinct, unique… Whip out your vocabulary,” McCarthy said. “I don’t know if you’ve ever… I mean the speed, his get-off, and his ability to split two. He’s the number one pressure player in the National Football League. He has a tremendous skill set; he’s definitely unique.”
Despite having several formidable pass rushers, Parsons remains the primary focus for opposing offenses. Jared Goff, quarterback for the playoff-bound Lions, acknowledges Parsons as a dangerous player, highlighting the challenge in facing him. “Their advantage with him is that they can move him around… They do a bunch of stuff with him… He can do a hell of a lot, and we’ve got to be aware of where he’s at.” Parsons has the potential to dominate a game, and if he does so against the playoff-bound Lions, McCarthy might find himself expanding his vocabulary to describe Micah’s impact further.
