On third-and-13 from the Dallas 8, Derrick Barnes had Dak Prescott in his sights. A successful tackle by Barnes would have resulted in a safety for the Lions. However, Barnes overran Prescott, who skillfully rolled to his right.
Seizing the opportunity, Prescott spotted CeeDee Lamb sprinting past cornerback Kindle Vildor. Vildor stumbled and fell at the 44-yard line just as Lamb secured the pass from Prescott. Lamb effortlessly completed the remainder of the 92-yard journey for a touchdown.
This play marked the longest completion in Prescott’s career, the lengthiest reception in Lamb’s career, and the second-longest completion in the team’s history. The only longer completion was a 95-yarder by Hall of Famer Bob Hayes in a 1966 game against Washington.
Notably, the touchdown catch was Lamb’s 111th reception of the season, equaling Michael Irvin’s team record for the most catches in a single season.
