Over twenty years since his time playing for the University of Michigan, Tom Brady remains a devoted fan of the Wolverines. Following Michigan’s challenging 27-20 Rose Bowl victory over Alabama in overtime, securing a spot in the CFP championship game, Brady shared his humorous take on the moment and his reaction in a video posted on social media.
Bare-chested, Tom Brady erupted in laughter as Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe attempted to push through into the end zone but fell significantly short, leading to a flood of Michigan’s players onto the field. “Let’s go!” cheered Brady enthusiastically.
Before the game, Brady conveyed a message through the official Michigan alumni account on X, urging fans to wholeheartedly support the team in this year’s matchup.
“I wanted to give you all a shoutout and extend my greetings to all the Wolverines supporters out in Los Angeles for the game,” Brady expressed. “I believe we all share a profound sense of what this team represents and what they stand for.
“I take pride in all they’ve accomplished, particularly the victory over the Buckeyes, and I’m confident there’s more success ahead for them. Recalling our significant win against the ‘Bama team in South Florida on New Year’s Day in 2000, I’m convinced these guys can replicate that triumph.
So, let the cheers echo through the Rose Bowl! Transform it into an atmosphere reminiscent of playing in Ann Arbor. We’ve got this. A monumental victory awaits.”
In postgame remarks on Monday, Jim Harbaugh, the coach of Michigan, once again affirmed his belief that while Tom Brady stands as the indisputable greatest quarterback of all time, the current Wolverines’ quarterback, J.J. McCarthy, has had a more impressive college career.
“I’ve mentioned it before, and right here, we have the greatest quarterback in the history of University of Michigan college football,” stated Harbaugh, with an emotional McCarthy placing a hand on his shoulder.
“While J.J. has a long way to go to reach the heights Tom Brady achieved as the GOAT, having lapped the field in that regard, in terms of a college career, nobody at Michigan has surpassed J.J. We often discuss a combination of quarterbacks, and he embodies that.”
In Tuesday’s game, McCarthy concluded with impressive stats, going 17-for-27, amassing 221 yards, throwing three touchdowns with zero interceptions, and adding 25 rushing yards on three attempts.
The number-one-ranked Wolverines aim to cap off their season with a victory on Monday, January 8, as they face Washington in the CFP championship. Washington secured its spot in the championship game with a 37-31 triumph over Texas in the semifinals.
