The Cleveland Browns experienced an emotional year, primarily centered around the health of Jim Donovan, known as the “Voice of the Browns.”
In June, Donovan revealed the recurrence of his leukemia. Despite this, he managed to call Cleveland’s first game of the season but later had to announce a leave of absence due to his health condition.
Players from the Browns expressed heartfelt messages for Donovan, hoping for the best for the man who has been the voice of Cleveland’s games since the team’s return in 1999.
Remarkably, Donovan returned to the booth by Week 11 when the Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers. Celebrating the victory, he smashed a guitar and resumed providing his voice for Cleveland, extending to the NFL playoffs.
On the eve of the Browns’ Wild Card round matchup against the Houston Texans, a video surfaced featuring Donovan narrating the team’s season and his cancer battle. The message conveyed is both emotional and remarkably clear:
