Banda Senior Bowl 1.18

At the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, the Cleveland Browns will have a representative on the sidelines.

On February 3, the Reese’s Senior Bowl revealed that Ephraim Banda, the safety coach, will lead the American team’s defense. Banda will be the head coach of the American team along with Titans assistant head coach and defensive line coach Terrell Williams, the offensive coordinator Troy Brown of the Patriots, the special teams coordinator Mike Adams of the Giants, and the head coach of the wide receivers for the Giants.

After 11 years of collegiate coaching, Banda joined the Browns coaching staff in 2023 as the safeties coach. During his 11 years in college football, he guided his teams to a bowl game every time.

Banda spent three seasons with the Longhorns from 2012 to 2014 as a defensive graduate assistant before starting his coaching career. Then, in 2015, he joined Mississippi State as a defensive assistant. He was the University of Miami’s safeties coach for three of his five seasons (2016–20); from 2019–20, he was the team’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. His final stop in collegiate football was Utah State, where he served as the safeties coach and defensive coordinator for two seasons in 2021–2022.

The Senior Bowl has introduced a “Coach Up” concept for the second year, in which assistant coaches and coordinators are assigned to duties that are either higher or different from what they now hold with their team. Assistant coaches could be nominated for positions by head coaches and general managers of each team in the non-playoff and Wild Card rounds. After that, a committee made up of executives from league offices and general managers advisory committee members chose the chosen candidates.
