Kirk Cousins’ latest remarks on Bill Belichick put the Vikings on notice.

Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah have both said that they would want to see Cousins return to the team the following season. When it comes to quarterback-needy teams, Cousins is undoubtedly the best option available when he enters free agency.

However, Cousins is not ruling anything out.

Considering that head coach Bill Belichick is a free agent this offseason, he considered playing for him. When asked directly if he was willing, Cousins said candidly.

According to Cousins, “I won’t turn down an opportunity to play with a future Hall of Fame coach,” as reported by Isabel Gonzalez of CBS Sports on January 18. But we’ll have to wait and see what March brings. There are simply a lot of unknowns at this time.

Adofo-Mensah has reiterated his intention to bring Cousins back for the upcoming season. According to Spotrac, the 35-year-old passer reportedly signed for a contract worth over $28 million for the upcoming season.

Neighbors have also expressed optimism about coming back, after suffering an Achilles tear this season.

The Vikings are, nevertheless, in a salary cap bind. If they make no moves, they will have less than $30 million in cap space for the next season. But there are still a few gaps that need to be filled. Adofo-Mensah has also mentioned being willing to retrace one’s steps.

If Adofo-Mensah thinks the team won’t be near enough to compete with Cousins, then their best bet would be to make a quarterback change.

Cousins said of Belichick, “I have the utmost respect for him as a coach, just like everyone else in pro football.” “That pretty much says it all if you go to that many Super Bowls, win that many Conference Championship games, and have the kind of defensive output he’s had for years and years.”

According to Pro Football Reference, Belichick is third in terms of victories and holds the record for most Super Bowls and Conference Championship games ever.

After twenty-four years with the New England Patriots, he enters the coaching market.

“On Thanksgiving night last year, we had a game against them. And once more, I observed repeatedly that the coverage he provided was unique and difficult.

As you play him, you can’t help but feel as like you’re peeking over your shoulder to make sure what you’re seeing is accurate. Because he frequently deviates from the norm and does something unique, which is one of the things that has made him an excellent coach.

The fondness that cousins have for Belichick would suffice. However, the head coach and Cousins have numerous possible landing destinations in common.

The Washington Commanders, who have already redesigned their front office, are among them. But Belichick and Cousins, whose wife is from the city, have even closer ties to the Atlanta Falcons.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on January 18, “Sources: Former #Patriots coach Bill Belichick will have a second interview with the #Falcons brass this weekend after meeting with owner Arthur Blank 1-on-1 this past week.” “With the greatest coach of all time, things are really getting intense.”

The Vikings’ offseason is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
