Josh McDaniels Ready to accept Patriots job if this terms are…

There’s a potential future for Josh McDaniels in New England.

McDaniels, who was let go by the Las Vegas Raiders in November, is actively seeking a new NFL opportunity. During the last few weeks of the regular season, he spent considerable time around the Patriots, even attending Bill Belichick’s farewell news conference.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are no reports confirming McDaniels’ interview for the vacant offensive coordinator position in New England. However, The Athletic’s Jeff Howe indicated on Wednesday that McDaniels might still be considered for the role, depending on Belichick’s situation.

“If Belichick secures the Falcons job, there’s a strong possibility he brings (Josh) McDaniels along. If Belichick doesn’t land the Falcons job, McDaniels could emerge as the top candidate for the Patriots,” Howe shared on the latest “Pats Interference” podcast with the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.

Before Howe’s update, it was reported that the Patriots had either interviewed or were planning to interview three offensive coordinator candidates: Dan Pitcher, Zac Robinson, and Nick Caley. However, Pitcher was promoted to offensive coordinator by the Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday, eliminating him as an option for New England.

Additionally, the initial reports suggested that Belichick was no longer the leading candidate for the head coaching position with the Atlanta Falcons. With his options narrowing, there’s a growing possibility that he might not coach anywhere in 2024. While several uncertainties remain, there seems to be increasing momentum toward a potential reunion between McDaniels and the Patriots.
