A defender for the Pittsburgh Steelers is on his way to the NFC Championship game.

Pittsburgh Tyson Alualu, a former defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, signed with the Detroit Lions right before the NFC Championship, and the team plans to keep him around for the duration of their postseason run.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Alualu, 35, became a member of the team’s practice squad and participated in two games before the postseason. After being upgraded for their first two playoff games, he will now be included in the 53-man roster as they attempt to defeat the San Francisco 49ers and secure a spot in Super Bowl LVIII.

Alualu played in 81 games—26 of which he started—during his six-year tenure with the Steelers. While playing defense for Pittsburgh, he totaled 158 tackles, 7.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and nine passes defensed.

He’ll be playing defense for the Lions in the NFC Championship game alongside former Steeler Cam Sutton. Sutton made his debut with the Detroit Lions in his rookie season, starting all 17 games and recording one interception, six passes defensed, and 65 tackles.
