Raheem Morris and Zac Robinson will work together as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator.

After finishing the 2023 season with a 10-7 record and qualifying for the postseason, the Los Angeles Rams took by surprise almost everyone in the NFL.

Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris of the Los Angeles Rams

The Rams, who lost a number of important veterans in the previous offseason, were supposed to utilize the year to develop their youthful group, but head coach Sean McVay and his staff got them up to speed sooner than anticipated. Although Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, and Matthew Stafford were Los Angeles’ cornerstones during the transition, the young players’ and rookies’ progress expedited the team’s recovery.

Raheem Morris need to receive equal recognition for heading the defense as McVay does for revitalizing the attack. Throughout the regular season, Morris was able to get the defense to improve consistently, and his efforts earned him an offer to take over as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Morris is set to leave for the Falcons, possibly taking coaches Zac Robinson and other members of McVay’s staff with him.

Robinson is a likely choice to be Atlanta’s offensive coordinator because he has three seasons of experience working with Morris in Los Angeles. Robinson would be a great asset to Morris’ Falcons staff because he has a ton of experience working under McVay.

Robinson has interviews for the same position with the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and New England Patriots, so Morris isn’t the only team interested in hiring him. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also a contender:

Robinson’s experience with Morris plus the youthful weaponry Atlanta has on their roster, however, make it reasonable to believe that Atlanta has the advantage.

Robinson’s departure from the Rams appears likely, which means McVay will need to fill roles on his staff. Still, it’s encouraging to see players like Morris and Robinson given the opportunity to advance in the league.
