Insider reports suggest that Bill Belichick is extremely upset with Atlanta Falcons.

Upon the announcement of Raheem Morris as the next head coach for the Atlanta Falcons, it likely came as a surprise not only to the general public but also to Bill Belichick. Initially considered the front-runner for the position even before his official departure from the New England Patriots, Belichick found himself passed over for Morris, who has significantly less head-coaching experience, with 408 fewer games under his belt.

While Belichick is unlikely to publicly express his sentiments on the matter, Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal suggests that Belichick is genuinely dissatisfied with the decision. According to Bedard, Belichick may be quite upset about losing out on the opportunity to a coach with considerably less coaching experience. Bedard goes on to express his hope that Belichick lands a job in the NFC South, potentially facing the Falcons in future matchups, to see how he responds to this snub each time they play.

Bedard’s argument revolves around the idea that Bill Belichick perceived the Falcons head coaching position as essentially his to lose. This perception, according to Bedard, contributed to a smooth and amicable departure from the New England Patriots.

Belichick’s confidence in landing the Falcons job supposedly made the transition from the Patriots seamless, as he likely believed the opportunity was secure even before officially leaving his former team.

Bedard further explained that if Belichick hadn’t been optimistic about the Falcons position, the process of parting ways with the Patriots might have been more prolonged and less harmonious. According to Bedard, Belichick had a strong belief that the Falcons job was within his grasp, and this confidence played a role in the ease of his departure from the Patriots.

The dynamics surrounding the Falcons coaching decision shifted, as Arthur Blank, the Falcons owner, initially wanted to hire Belichick early in the process. However, Blank’s decision-making process apparently evolved due to various factors, leading to the ultimate selection of Raheem Morris.

As of now, with only the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders having head-coaching vacancies, it is suggested that Belichick may not coach in the 2024 season and could potentially make a return to coaching in 2025.
